Elkstone is almost exactly seven miles south of Cheltenham, and north of Cirencester, just east of the A417.
Approaches to the village by car are set out below.
From the M5 (northbound or southbound), leave at junction 11a, and follow the A417 signs for Cirencester (Brockworth Bypass); this climbs up Crickley Hill to the Air Balloon roundabout; continue southwards on the A417 for about 3 miles after which it becomes a dual carriageway. After a mile, take the next exit (as you approach the Highwayman pub on the right hand side), follow the signs for Elkstone, and almost immediately at the ‘T’ junction, turn right.
After a mile, the road dips down a slope and rises again, and the southern part of the village is reached by turning right at the first cross-roads, but note that the Church driveway entrance is reached by driving straight on a further 500 yards, on the right.
The best Sat Nav Postcode entry for this locality is GL53 9PD.
If you are looking for the northern part of the village, with the Village Hall, continue past the Church entrance for a further half mile, and turn right at the next cross roads. (Look for the bus stops).
For this locality, apply Postcode GL53 9PB to your Sat Nav.
From the M4, leave at the Swindon exit Junction 15, and follow the A419 Gloucester road signs for about 18 miles, and as you approach Cirencester, it becomes the A417; continue about 6 miles, and watch for the Highwayman Public House on the left, and immediately take the exit left (Pike Road) signed Elkstone; immediately there is a ‘T’ junction, turn right, and in 100 yards turn right (underneath the A417), and follow the signs for Elkstone for about a mile, and the road dips and rises again as Elkstone is approached.
At this point, refer to the M5 directions above to complete the journey.
From Cheltenham or Oxford, navigate to the junction of the A435 (which runs between Cheltenham and Cirencester), and the A436 (at the Seven Springs mini-roundabout); continue south along the A435 Cirencester direction, and after 2 miles, watch for the right exit for Elkstone. Drive carefully, the road is narrow, and descends to a very narrow bridge with a hair-pin bend to the right. Continue past the Green Dragon public house, and back up the hill. After 2 miles there is a cross-roads, followed in about 500 yards by another cross-roads, which has bus stops to the left and right; turn left for the northern part of the village with the Village Hall, or continue straight on for a further half mile for the Church entrance on the left.
The best Sat Nav postcode entry for this locality is GL53 9PB.
For the southern end of the village continue instead to the next cross-roads and turn left.
