As the Rural North Safer Communities Team we feel it is important to bring to your attention the recent increase in Dwelling and Non-Dwelling Burglaries during the last 3 weeks affecting the villages Winstone, Syde, Cowley, Duntisbourne Abbots, Elkstone, Birdlip and Rendcomb and urge that you circulate to friends, neighbours and residents in the Villages you live to be vigilant and to report any suspicious vehicles in your area direct to police using the new 101 Non Emergency Number or 999 if you believe persons are committing a criminal offence.
Please can we encourage you to be security conscious –
· The registration number of a strange van / car may give police a vital lead.
· Keep a record of the serial number, chassis and model numbers of your machinery/equipment.
· Use a metal engraver to mark tools, vehicles / equipment with your post code and initials of your farm/property.
Please do not hesitate to contact Cirencester Safer Communities Team if you wish further crime prevention advice, information on Neighbourhood Watch, Rural Watch, Smartwater (Forensic Marking of your property).
